New York (February 12th, 2007)-
This Valentine’s Day, in celebration of the storied and romantic past of its historic Times Square location, the Paramount Hotel will be awarding complimentary stays to nurses and sailors, or those dressed like them, who indulge in its special prix-fixe Valentine’s Day menu. Located in the heart of Times Square, the Paramount Hotel shares its location with one of the most famous and memorable photographs of a kiss ever published. Shot on V-Day in 1945, the image captures the moment when a sailor spontaneously embraces a nurse and kisses her. This Valentine’s Day, or V-Day, the Paramount Hotel will celebrate the passion and joie de vivre that has characterized Times Square for decades and that this image has come to symbolize.
Sailors and nurses, or those costumed as such, are invited to indulge in the Paramount Hotel’s special prix-fixe Valentine’s Day menu—a menu that provides not only tempting confections for dessert, but also a complimentary stay in one of the hotel’s well-known rooms. The menu, priced at $69 per person, features New York classics like oysters Rockefeller, roasted prime rib of beef, New York chocolate cheesecake, and to spark the evening’s romance, chocolate-covered strawberries.
Paramount’s “V-Day in the Heart of Times Square” celebration will only be available on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2007 from 5 pm to 10 pm and complimentary rooms are subject to availability. When making dinner reservations, guests are encouraged to reserve a room for the “V-Day in the Heart of Times Square” package. Guests who are nurses or sailors should bring along identification that confirms their profession if they are not clearly costumed. A complimentary room will be issued upon presentation of their receipt from the Valentine’s Day prix-fixe dinner for two and proper identification if necessary.
With a prime location at 235 West 46th Street in Times Square and the Theater District, the Paramount Hotel offers 567 guestrooms and suites, all with wireless high speed Internet access, cable and video on demand, two-line telephones and data ports. Valet and shoeshine are available. Guests can enjoy afternoon coffee, tea, and cocktails in the Library Bar, dining in the Mezzanine Restaurant, in-room dining, and shopping at Dean & Deluca Gourmet Food Store. There is a full service 24-hour Business Center with executive boardrooms and state-of-the-art audiovisual and telecommunications equipment.
