Paramount Hotel in New York Completes Major Renovation Project
The Paramount Hotel in New York announced the completion of its $40 million renovation project. The work included changes made to the hotel’s lobby and 597 rooms, as well as the addition of two new restaurants, a new retail outlet, and meeting and event space.
The Paramount’s two-story lobby, inspired by a lavishly decorated theater, uses dark wood, chandeliers, and furniture upholstered in rich blues and washed out reds, all accented by the occasional yellow or mirror finish. The focal point of the room is a stainless steel fireplace that was designed to reflect light; it has a DJ booth above it for live entertainment.
The rooms were completely redone with a minimalist aesthetic, and have been outfitted with flatscreen TVs and iPod docking stations. The views of Times Square have been carried over.
The hotel’s new restaurant and bar, the 2,500 square foot (232 square meter) Paramount Bar & Grill, offers modern comfort food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Its dining room can seat 86, while its bar offers space for 20 guests. Signature dishes include chicken pot pie, hamburgers, and meatballs.
Another restaurant is Corso, an Italian-style coffee bar, complete with marble counters and vintage espresso machines. It offers wood-roasted espresso and locally-roasted American coffee throughout the day. It also serves offers fresh paninis and pastries.
The new retail outlet, Free & the Brave, offers men’s and women’s fashion, as well as various accessories and travel products. There are also unique and handmade items, many of which are locally crafted.
The hotel also has four mezzanine-level meeting and event spaces, which combined can host up to 200 attendees.
In addition, the hotel’s nightclub, Diamond Horseshoe, is set to reopen in the basement of the hotel in fall of this year. The club first opened in 1938 and closed in 1951.
